Golf Nut Society And International Players Tour Form Strategic Partnership

Chicago, IL (PressExposure) April 17, 2008 -- The Golf Nut Society (GNS) and the International Players Tour (IPT) have announced a strategic partnership to enhance membership benefits and player communications with their respective organizations. The Golf Nut Society, the longest running golf community on the Internet, recently revitalized their web site to reach the growing number of “nuts,” who are addicted to finding “the Secret” of the elusive perfect game. In recognition of IPT members “Living the Dream” of playing tournament golf at the highest level, GNS will provide complimentary lifetime Golf Nut Society membership to each current IPT member. IPT members play for significant prize money with their handicaps, including a $20,000 pay day for the 2008 Tour Championship winner. Michael Donovan, Head Nut of GNS, says “We’re delighted with this superb partnership with the IPT. Clearly, their concept of developing international competition for significant cash epitomizes our endorsement of their members as ‘golf nuts’. And we believe many IPT members will be strong competitors for our Golf Nut of the Year Award.”

In addition to mutual web links and membership communications, IPT will also promote the GNS membership ($24.95 Lifetime membership) at each of its 200+ events around the country in 2008. “We’re truly excited about the relationship with GNS,” said Bill Conwell, IPT SVP of Business Development. “We’re honored that they have rewarded our players with GNS membership, and look forward to sharing the GNS story with all avid golfers at the courses we play. In addition, the on-line Golf Nut Forums provide a great source of information from around the world – both serious and humorous”.

Future plans between these two rising membership organizations include combined golf events, mutual sponsorships, and sharing of interactive audio and video capabilities on their web sites.

About Golf Nut Society

The Golf Nut Society is the longest running private Golf Affinity Group in the country. Founded in 1986, the Golf Nuts now have an active membership approaching 10,000 registered members. Members include a cross-section of golfing abilities from notable PGA, LPGA and Champions Tour Professionals, Celebrities, Teaching and Club Professionals, Ranked Amateurs, Everyday Golfers, to novice, but addicted golfers. Membership is worldwide, with a strong following in Canada, England, Germany and Australia.

The mission of the Golf Nut Society is to provide unique content, products, events and opportunities for its membership. In addition, the Golf Nut Society provides a platform for discussion among all members concerning any topic golf-oriented.

At the heart of the Golf Nut Society are two important “Quests.” The first is the quest for the elusive “Secret.” That “one thing” that will mysteriously transform the ordinary golf swings into magical. The second quest is the elusive and prestigious “Golf Nut of the Year” competition, decided by the overall leader in “Golf Nut Points” collected throughout the year for amazing “Golf-Nut” behavior. Points are initially awarded through the Golf Nut Entrance Exam and accumulated throughout a Members lifetime through petitions to “Dear Head Nut.”

“It does not really matter if you’ve played golf for a lifetime or have only just begun. It is easy to go “Nuts” over golf. You see, golf is so much more than a game or a sport it is, at its core, a fellowship which we enjoy with others. Good times, bad times, great shots, awful shots are all part of those silly moments on the course that get us through the stress of our everyday lives. And before that day, which we each will inevitably face when we tee it up on that gorgeous fairway in the sky, for just a flicker of time we find the “Secret.” The “Secret” is revealed to us all as something much more personal and intense than a mere game or sport could provide. It is not the Meaning of Life but for many of us who may be addicted to the search, it is close,” explains the Head Nut, Michael Donovan.

About International Players Tour (IPT)

International Players Tour, operated by prior management of Champions Golf Tour (CGT), was launched in January 2008 for the purpose of bringing PGA style competition to avid golfers everywhere. Operations began in April 2002 under the banner of the Champions Golf Tour, which was founded by Ron Beaman in the Dallas/Ft.Worth area. Ron developed a business model that would provide avid recreational golfers a chance to play in an environment similar to major tour events – “inside the ropes” for significant prize money – utilizing a proprietary handicap system.

After conducting its first event in June, 2002, CGT followed with 17 tournaments in 2002 and awarded nearly $60,000 in prize money. Significant and sustained growth has occurred in subsequent years in player participation, number of events, and prize money. With over 1200 players in their system, IPT management conducted over 150 events in 2007 within ten state and twelve metropolitan city areas with payouts exceeding $570,000. In 2008, the IPT will conduct 200+ events in fifteen different metro areas, culminating in the Tour Championship at the Horseshoe Bay Marriott Resort in Texas, with the winner taking home $20,000 in GUARANTEED first place prize money!

“The Model that Works” is now being adopted effectively and implemented successfully in multiple cities, with projected expansion into 5-10 new markets each year – including international locations - through a unique licensing rights program.

In addition, IPT has expanded its 2008 Senior Tour Division schedule to include 10-12 new 54 hole events across the USA. The Senior Tour Division provides playing opportunities for seniors with competitive aspirations on the PGA Champions Tour or maintaining their level of competition for significant purses.
