Kolkata, India (PressExposure) May 02, 2013 -- 28th April: For jewellery lovers, it was a much awaited day as it marked the grand opening of Sawansukha's Kankurgachi showroom, its fourth showroom in Bengal. Among Kolkata's leading jewellers, Sawansukha is known for its designer diamond, jadau and gold jewellery, a large collection of which was showcased much to the delights of the hundreds of customers who thronged the showroom through the day. "It is a lovely collection," gushed Mahuya, an early customer. "We were made to feel like celebrities. They even gave us such beautiful gifts."
Speaking on the occasion Mr. Rupchand Sawansukha, Chairman, noted the growing importance of Kankurgachi area as a jewellery hub catering to the fast developing east Kolkata market and the growing demand for designer and 'statement' jewellery from the fashion conscious. Siddharthaa Sawansukha, MD and the man behind Sawansukha's rapid expansion in recent years added that while the showroom stocked the expected collection of traditional diamond, jadau and gold items on similar lines as Sawansukha's flagship store in Camac Street, the emphasis would be on contemporary international style jewellery in tune with the tastes and trend of the area.
In the jewellery industry, the opening of the Sawansukha showroom attracts special interest as the Company has won several awards, including the DTC Award for Best Stock and Display and Solitaire award for Best Design. Apart from Kankurgachi, Sawansukha has showrooms in Salt Lake and Siliguri, besides its 25,000 sq ft master showroom in Camac Street.
Apart from members of the trade, customers and company personnel, the inauguration was attended by the students and faculty of the Sawansukha Institute of Gemology and Jewellery Design, who found it a wonderful learning experience.
