Gutsy Armless Woman Scores Her Pilots License

Port Vila, Vanuatu (PressExposure) February 17, 2009 -- People painting with their feet is a well known fact, but no one expected an armless person to be able to fly a plane, using only their feet. The words 'can't and impossible' have no place in Jessica's vocabulary.

Just twenty-five years old, Jessica, from Tucson, Arizona, was born with a bilateral congenital limb deficiency, that left her without arms. A defect that has left doctors mystified. Jessica refused to use any prosthetic aid and from a very young age set out to prove to the world, nothing was out of bounds.

Jessica became the first pilot without arms, to be granted a license to fly a light-sport aircraft to altitudes of 10,000 feet. Jessica has also achieved two black belts in Tae Kwan-Do, a psychology college degree and pursues a successful career in motivational speaking. Jessica drives her own car, puts on her makeup, brushes her long black hair and can type 25 words a minute. She achieves all this without the help from any special devices. Right from birth, Jessica was determined to make her feet take the place of her hands.

Jessica's beautiful smile prevents anyone from focusing on any defect. "I highly encourage people with disabilities to consider flying", Jessica says. "It helps reverse the stereotype that people with disabilities are hampered. It turns them from feeling they are powerless, into the belief that they are capable of setting high goals and achieving them".

North Carolina Able Flight training company specializes in assisting people with disabilities, to learn to fly. Jessica was able to obtain her license free of charge, having won an Able Flight scholarship.

The next time you feel like having a grumble, spare a thought for Jessica, who clambours into the plane, wearing sexy high heel shoes, totally unaware that she is different from other pilots.

Today, Jessica hops into the plane, in sexy high heel shoes, totally unaware that she is any different from any other pilot.
