Guy Major Releases New Self-Titled LP, "Guy Major"

Long Beach, CA (PressExposure) February 20, 2013 -- Ottowa pop rocker Guy Major has released his flagship self-titled LP, which features the breakaway single, "Another Worthless Day." The album contains a whopping 17 tracks for approximately an hour's worth of heartfelt, North American rocking. Its mood is entirely upbeat and optimistic, with themes that range from personal and romantic to thoughtful and musing. It's feeling is infectiously foot-tapping, finger-snapping good, drawing its strength from the classic, folk-inspired rock n' roll sounds of the sixties and seventies, but with Major's own natural, more-modern edge.

Major's overall tone is part Beatles and part Cat Stevens, with a dash of Jim Croce and a touch of Chris Isaak. His clean, smooth vocal delivery, combined with a very straightforward and earnest songwriting style, results in a sound that shares unmistakable elements with Brian Wilson's groove, tone and orchestration for the Beach Boys, sans the doo-wop harmonies. Although Major's guitar work and songwriting are standouts among his numerous talents, his pure, youthful singing voice manages to sound beautifully sweet to the ear while retaining its inherent masculinity, and in the end this seems his music's most endearing, lasting, and inimitable quality.

This is perhaps not surprising in an artist who was originally inspired to musicianship by hearing a '60s pop song from the British Invasion. "I took up guitar and singing after hearing 'I Want to Hold Your Hand' [by the Beatles] at age 10," says the artist of this. "I played in a Bruce Springsteen cover band in high school, too, and played the hell out of all the Beatles classics on my own."

In addition to his rock n' roll exploits, Guy Major is also a noted instrumentalist in the American Northeast as being the award-winning guitarist for MacCrimmon's Revenge, the celebrated Celtic music group from Halifax, Nova Scotia.

Guy Major's self-titled LP is available online worldwide beginning 20 February 2013.
