Macclesfield, United Kingdom (PressExposure) March 17, 2009 -- Switzerland, Florida and Portugal are the favourite destinations for travellers looking to get away this Easter, according to leading car hire price comparison website Carrentals.co.uk. British people who have had enough of the poor domestic weather and ongoing credit crunch are heading abroad in large numbers.
The website, which has this Easter seen a rise in advance car hire bookings of 15%, also says that tourists are booking hire cars for longer periods of seven, nine, twelve and fourteen days in place of the typical long weekend.
Gareth Robinson, managing director of Carrentals.co.uk, says, âThis year has seen a real change, people seem to be fleeing the country to get away from the bad weather and recession. Weâre also seeing people booking longer trips to places like Switzerland, the Algarve and Florida and they are also trying out new destinations like the Atlantic Coast in Portugal.â
Gareth Robinson went on, âThere are still hire cars available, but tourists who want specific things such as people carriers or child seats must book in advance. Weâre also advising people to compare prices online to get the very best deals.â
Carrentals.co.uk compares car hire deals from up to 50 rental companies, including Sixt, Alamo, Holiday Autos and EasyCar, in over 9,000 locations worldwide. Current Easter deals include rental from £13 per day at Lisbon Airport; from £12 per day at Malaga Airport; and from £15 per day at Orlando Airport.
