It can be used in conjunction with other types of test equipment such as power meters and fiber identifiers to test fiber optic cables.
This compact and easy-to-use optical light source, model C0220004, offers high accuracy and reliability for evaluating a wide range of optical devices and systems including WNM. It features 1 to 4 output wavelengths including 650 nm red sources, 1310/1550 nm wavelengths for single mode fiber and 850/1300 nm wavelengths for multimode fiber to meet specific requirements. Other wavelengths are available to meet specific needs. This high performance handheld fiber optic light source operates at two frequencies: CW, 2 Hz modulation output at 650nm and CW, 270 Hz, 1 kHz, 2 kHz modulation output at other wavelengths. It is powered by 3 AA 1.5 V Alkaline batteries which allows for a very long continual operation time of up to 45 h. Its optional auto-off function will make the instrument deactivated after 10 minutes of the idle time ensuring a long battery life.
