London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) April 17, 2014 -- IPR License, the global and digital marketplace for books rights, has announced that Joe Crawley has won the latest IPR License 'Agents Pick' for his memoir More Ketchup than Salsa.
Five pieces of work were shortlisted in total; Checkmate by Doug Thompson, Jet Set Desolate by Andrea Lambert; Evermore by Brewin, Sales Through Service by Guy Arnold and More Ketchup than Salsa by Joe Crawley.
The aim of the competition is to help showcase authors work to publishers as well as agents and highlight their rights licensing potential. The winner's work will be featured on a special promotion to over 50,000 publishers and agents in over 90 countries and receive a professional written critique.
Tom Chalmers, Managing Director at IPR License, commented: "More Ketchup than Salsa is a deserved winner of the latest Agents Pick and only serves to really emphasise the quality of titles on the IPR platform. With the platform now fully open to non-members to search, offer and negotiate deals on whole book rights more and more key titles are attracting the attention they deserve from interested parties on a global scale."
Commenting on the winners book, David Haviland, agent at The Andrew Lownie Literary Agency, said: "This is a very funny tale of the expat experience that reminded me of James Hamilton-Paterson's 'Cooking with Fernet Branco'. The prose is rich with irony, wit and comic absurdity, and it's easy to see why the book is proving so popular."
Joe Crawley, author of More Ketchup than Salsa, added: "I'm extremely pleased that More Ketchup than Salsa was chosen as the Agent's Pick. If it leads to offers of representation or rights acquisition for this, and/or my other titles, I shall be a very cheery chappie indeed."
IPR License is currently in discussion over a number of major partnerships, which are expected to be rolled out throughout 2014 as they look to become established as the industry standard tool when it comes to rights and licensing a variety of content.
