Jaipur, India (PressExposure) April 21, 2009 -- A day after declaring LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran as his good friend and that he was not a terrorist, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi today said his ``comments had been twisted and it was taken out of context``.
Talking to private television channels here today, the DMK leader clarified that the television channel, which had interviewed him yesterday, ``had not telecast his interview fully and whatever it reported was not full``.
Mr Kraunanidhi clarified that he had never said LTTE leader Prabhakaran was not a terrorist. ``I had only said Prbhakaran had launched the LTTE as a militant movement for liberation. But some of its men in the movement have become terrorists``.
On reports quoting him as having said ``LTTE is not a terrorist organisation``, the Chief Minister clarified that what he had said was LTTE could not be likened to a naxalite movement.
``It (LTTE) was not started as a terrorist organisation. It began as a liberation movement and during the course of time, became a terrorist organisation``, he clarified.
The private television channel had not telecast his interview in full as it was always against the DMK, he alleged, in a bid to put the record straight.
