, CA (PressExposure) July 23, 2011 -- If you thought the earlier Spider Man was amazing, the chances are bright that you will find this one is amazing too. But not that many people did, Spiderman II was horrendous and too unbelievable. From the trailer, the Amazing Spider Man looks more or less like the Toby Maguire version! And that is tired too, a poor Peter Parker still in college trying to find his way. Boring, real boring. And Kirsten Dunst never made a good Mary Jane.
Maybe that comment is unfair, considering that the trailer shows us bits from Peter Parker's story that we are all familiar with. How he felt abandoned after his parents were killed or how he never had enough money while growing up. After moving to a new country, immigrants find that making wealth is not easy. Immigration lawyers know that their clients will often continue to struggle for a good few years after their move; like Peter Parker, except without the special powers. And Parker is poor even with those abilities, completely pathetic.
If not the story, the casting should surprise you. Andrew Garfield from The Social Network is the new Spider Man. Cannot be any worse than Tobey McGuire. The clients of many immigration lawyers find that they don't take an instant liking to their host country as they expected, but with time, it could grow on them. But even after 3 movies of Tobey, he never grew on anyone. All three were unexciting, the first one was OK.
From the sneak peak that we got of both the leaked trailer and the official version, Marc Webb does seems to be in one hell of a grim mood. Often, immigrants who move to a new country with the assistance of immigration lawyers, can miss their home country and feel lonely for years. After watching Spiderman II, many immigrants even missed their homeland perhaps even more. However, after settling down and making friends, they get used to their new situation and even begin to enjoy their chosen homeland. Why is Webb grim? For the movie sure looks darker than the previous versions which were in many cases just silly.
