Leading Private Waste Company Introduces Banksman Auto Braking

Blackburn, United Kingdom (PressExposure) March 20, 2013 -- A leading waste management firm has chosen to install Vision Techniques award-winning Banksman Auto Braking into over 80 of its vehicles to reduce collisions and operating costs.

Working to strict logistical deadlines to upgrade the vehicles quickly and efficiently, the Vision techniques engineers have been working hard both abroad and at home.

The automatic braking system is currently being fitted to the company's recycling refuse and trade waste vehicles.

Operations Manager Richard Hall said: "This is a very important contract and we are putting a lot of manpower into it.

"The firm understands how vital Banksman Auto Braking is to reducing reversing collisions and they know it will save them a huge amount of money in operating costs."

The company decided on the installation after seeing the products money saving and collision risk reduction potential.

The system monitors the rear of refuse and waste vehicles and identifies any potential hazards whilst reversing.

If there's a danger, Banksman Auto Braking emits a warning alarm to alert the operator.

If these are ignored, the brakes are automatically applied.

The automatic braking system is designed to protect operatives, assets and the public.

How does Banksman Auto Braking work?

So how does it work? Well, it includes both audible and visible reversing alarms with an additional 'modified in cab warning panel and a driver override button, with the addition of a 'Brakes Logic Box'.

If the driver has not applied the brakes prior to the detection zone getting reached, the system will apply the brakes.

The reversing sensors well then approach speed - and the faster it's going, the earlier the brakes are applied.

If a person/car passes across the path of vehicle as it reverses and causes an automatic braking application, the driver checks his mirrors or mobile CCTV system to confirm that the threat is no longer present and release the brakes by pressing the override button briefly and then continue to reverse.

The 'Brakes Logic Box' is the brain of the automatic braking system, controlling every aspects of its operation and logging events.
