West Yorks, United Kingdom (PressExposure) August 12, 2009 -- Lovers of the great outdoors are discovering that the diverse countryside of the South Pennines has plenty to offer when it comes to stunning scenery and outdoor activities.
This wonderful area of wild, high moors and narrow wooded valleys offers some of Englandâs finest walking and cycling country. And whatâs more, the areaâs excellent public transport means that everyone can enjoy the countryside and leave their car at home.
For the second year running, organisations in the area have worked together to create the South Pennines Walk and Ride Festival which takes place from the 12 â 27 September 2009.
The event is aimed at promoting this little-known gem on the Yorkshire / Lancashire border as the ideal place to enjoy outdoor activities.
The extensive festival programme offers something for everyone - short, medium and long walks, cycling and horse riding as well as interpretive walks, talks and themed events, focusing on special aspects of South Pennines life and landscape, social and industrial history, transport, literature and the environment.
