Wilmington, Delaware (PressExposure) September 10, 2012 -- Description: Patient safety, it goes without saying, is at the heart of healthcare delivery. Being the quintessential element of healthcare, sometimes, it falls short of expectations. Why is this so? It is because healthcare providers lack organizational culture. Organizational culture should keep changes in mind all the time and implement them, which is the only approach that makes them move forward.
This presentation will consider ways by which healthcare organizations can bring in changes into their organizational culture. It will examine ways b which healthcare organizations can change their outlook, which will bring about organizational culture. This is the culture which enables them to reach high standards in patient safety.
This session will take up a detailed analysis of the three aspects of change. These are: A recognition of the different personal styles or types; barriers to bringing about personal change, and thirdly, the various options that foster personal change. These are then extended to the area of organizational change.
This webinar will then traverse to the area of levels of organizational change, in which the Individual, Group or Work Unit and Total Organization are described. The next phase of discussion is the Lewin-Schein organizational culture change model. The topic of resistance to organizational change will make a reference to Dwyer's work on power and influence to achieve change in behavior. This session will conclude with a discussion of how to put in strategies for achieving successful organizational change.
