Shelby Township, MI (PressExposure) August 19, 2009 -- All Waste offers containers that begin in size at two cubic yards all the way up to 40 cubic yards. When Sherman Rogers quotes a price on his equipment to a prospective customer for a specific size, the price to size quote is for a true and accurate cubic footage. When he consults with a customer, Sherman actually takes a yard stick to demonstrate the height, width and length measurements of the garbage dumpsters or the container bins.
Sherman does the math for the customer to make a point: that All Waste equipment meets the standards and regulations of the Michigan Department of Agriculture Weights & Measures Program. The Michigan Department of Agriculture (MDA) is responsible for ensuring that all weights and measures used in commerce are accurate. This ensures that consumers get what they pay for and that businesses are able to compete on a level playing field.
âWhen I started this company in 1998 I was turning 30 with one truck and 18 containers. I made certain that I got what I paid for,â explained Sherman. Today All Waste has 18 full-time employees, a fleet of all-Mack truck haulers and over 1200 roll containers and trash dumpsters. âI treat my customers the way that I want to be treated,â added the young CEO.
The All Waste employees learned quickly after entering the waste disposal services industry some 12 years ago that the trash pick up business was playing loose with price quotes on equipment sizes. Using his own observations, Sherman discovered that the sizes of his competitorsâ equipment were smaller than the size of the customersâ invoice. Some of the misrepresented equipment orders were short by as much as three cubic feet.
What all this means to the consumer are more trash and junk pickup trips, which in turn meant a higher cost to the customers.
Instead of complaining about the competitionâs violation of the MDA regulations, All Waste set their costs within the industryâs standard prices. This translates to a discount for the All Waste customers. They would be renting a true-sized piece of equipment suitable for their needs and budget.
