Sydney, Australia (PressExposure) May 29, 2009 -- Bowdens Group, as a key consultant to the consortium "Momentum", has been awarded the contract to deliver the Sydney Water Watermains Renewal Program Alliance valued at approximately A$900 million for the potential duration of the next 7 years.
The Sydney Water Watermains Program Alliance will comprise of partners Bovis Lend Lease Australia, CLM Infrastructure, Veolia Water Network Services and Sydney Water along with key supporting consultants Bowdens, Parsons Brinckerhoff and KMH making this alliance responsible for a significant proportion of Sydney Water's planned capital works.
A key component of the Sydney Water Watermains Renewal Program Alliance is to replace pipes in areas which have a history of leaks and breaks to ensure the network can support more than 4 million people in Sydney, Illawarra and the Blue Mountains. The area of operations, totalling almost 13,000 square kilometres, extends from the Hawkesbury River in the north to Gerroa in the South, and from the Pacific Ocean westward to Mount Victoria in the Blue Mountains.
The consortium will be involved in all aspects of design and project management, which will include planning, modelling, investigation, design, environmental impact assessment, communications, construction, contract management and commissioning. Bowdens will be responsible for assisting in the provision of design and surveying expertise to the program.
The Sydney Water Watermains Renewal Program Alliance builds upon the A$420 million Networks Alliance program which Bowdens has been proudly part of to date. This program commenced 4 years ago and is currently in its final year.
To date Networks Alliance has completed works at approximately 2,100 sites in the greater Sydney region.
