Mother/Daughter Writing Team Releases New Contemporary Novel

Rosenberg, Texas (PressExposure) May 08, 2013 -- Leslie C. Ferdinand, author of Wicked Allure, has a hot, new African-American, contemporary romance scheduled to go on sale May 20, 2013. Picture Perfect will be released by Liquid Silver Books.

Alexis Morgan is determined to rise above the heartache of her childhood and the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. The soon-to-be married Elliot Walker is a man determined to prove himself worthy as the only adopted son of a wealthy New Orleans family. Out of the hurricane's devastation, secrets are revealed, relationships are tested, and true love is born.

Writing as Christine Holden, the two women sold 5 novels to Jove Books between 1998 and 2001. In 2006, Leslie appeared on the Rachael Ray Show as a Hurricane Katrina survivor. The team also were contributing writers to Marriage of Minds, Collaborative Fiction by May McGoldrick and for Kathryn Falk's 1998 edition of How To Write Romance For The New Markets & Get Published.

Leslie and Shirley are natives of New Orleans. To escape Katrina, they evacuated to Texas, where they have resided ever since. Their hearts remain in their beloved Crescent City. Leslie grew up in the 7th Ward. Though Shirley grew up in the same area, in her youth, it was known as "Pillait Land" or "Backatown." The day before Katrina hit, Leslie, her mother, and her daughters left their home, thinking they'd return in a few days. However, they lost everything and first evacatued to Terrell before settling in the Houston area. The song "Do You Know What It Means to Miss New Orleans" has taken on a completely different meaning. Despite the warm Texas welcome, they are planning to return home to live in the near future. During football season, Leslie is an avid Who Dat (NO Saints fan), even though she's over 300 miles away.
