New Austin Music Rehearsal Co-Op & Live Venue Opens

Austin, Texas (PressExposure) January 05, 2008 -- The Music Gym and Lounge is a new music rehearsal studio and live performance venue now open in Austin at East 6th Street and I-35. Using a membership model where bands have 24-hour access to four fully equipped rehearsal studios with recording capabilities as well as the opportunity for monthly performances in the club space, The Music Gym is run with a co-op approach that creates a community of musicians and artists. Each group or musician that becomes a member will have eight hours of weekly practice time available on demand, scheduled via an online system. The rooms are also available to non-members at an affordable hourly rate.

Each rehearsal studio comes equipped with a full back line including a drum kit, microphones, PA system, guitar and bass amplifiers, cables, stands and an M-Box ProTools recording system. Members will have access to Music Gym bulletin boards, classes, and special events. Each member group will also be featured on the Music Gym website and will have the opportunity to perform monthly, in either the indoor lounge or the larger outdoor performance area.

The Music Gym is an artist-owned and operated business, which has expanded from its original location in Boston, MA to provide Austin musicians with the convenience of fully-equipped studios and a vibrant artistic community. The owners of the new Austin location have been hosting large parties and fundraisers for the past few months, benefiting or featuring such organizations as The Alliance for Fair Food, The Austin Music Foundation, The Texas Rollergirls, Frank 151 Magazine, and IHEARTCOMIX Records, among others.

The Music Gym is located in the rapidly expanding artistic community of the East Side, minutes from the downtown entertainment district.
