Boulder, Colorado (PressExposure) July 21, 2011 -- Founder Elayne Fletcher, a Certified Consulting Hypnotist through the National Guild of Hypnotists, provides hypnotherapy services for a variety of issues. Hypnosis is an effective tool for more than just weight loss or smoking cessation and has been approved by the American Medical Association for medical use since 1958. Athletes use hypnosis to improve their performance and mental game. Tiger Woods, Mark McGwire and Jimmy Connors are some examples of famous athletes that have used hypnosis to improve their game. Stress management and treatment of fears and phobias also respond well to hypnosis as well as many other issues. Elayne works with the client on an individual basis to determine the best course of treatment and customizes the sessions to meet the client's needs.
Hypnosis is a natural, relaxed yet focused state of mind that people enter many times during the day. Daydreaming, becoming engrossed in a book or movie and driving are all examples of the hypnotic state. A hypnotist takes advantage of the hypnotic state to effect deep and permanent change at the subconscious level. Because these changes take place directly at the subconscious level, hypnosis is an effective and brief intervention as compared to traditional therapy. Issues are dealt with in weeks rather than months and for some issues such as smoking a single session is all that is required.
Anybody with a desire to change, the willingness and ability to follow instructions and at least average intelligence can be hypnotized. The ability to be hypnotized is not a sign of weak will and often strong willed clients do very well with hypnosis treatments. The client is always in control and cannot be forced to do anything that is not in their best interest. Clients can learn self-hypnosis to help themselves relax and to reinforce the work done in the office session.
