London, United Kingdom (PressExposure) September 06, 2012 -- About the book:
Set in Cumberland (now part of Cumbria), shortly before the start of the Second World War, Emily's Destiny moves from industrial Workington to picturesque Keswick in the heart of the English Lake District and tells the story of Emily Wilson's struggle to escape from a life of fear and poverty. Her journey takes her on a roller-coaster ride of highs and lows and to scenes of violence and death. She marries well and appears to prosper but an act of bitter betrayal sees her comfortable world come crashing down.
Her hopes and dreams shattered, Emily strives to rebuild her life but a cruel twist of fate leads a policeman to link her to three deaths that have officially been deemed accidental and she is accused of murder. She finds a rare and valuable book and sees this as a way out, only to have a rival threaten her life unless she gives it to him. The book becomes pivotal in a deadly game of survival for Emily, as she tries to outwit her rival as well as the police.
"I loved this book. It's a fast, easy read. Allan has a gift for bringing his characters and settings alive with a few words. I get so sick of the usual screed of description and flowery prose in other books that I end up skim reading, or abandoning the books altogether. I can't wait for a follow up." (Hucky, Amazon Review)
"I bought this book as a present but read the epilogue and got too engrossed in the story to wrap the book, so I started to read it. It makes better reading when you can recognise the places (that are well described), hope you enjoy it also." (P Elwood, Amazon Review).
