Oy Vey At Trash Bar, Williamsburg, August 25, Video Release

New York, New York (PressExposure) August 24, 2012 -- The electro pop band Oy Vey will perform at Trash Bar in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Saturday, August 25th at 8pm. Tickets are $8 at the door. MTV recently featured Oy Vey's song "When I Was Young" on the hit series "Awkward" in August. "When I Was Young" was also named a Top 5 song for the week of February 14th by Indie Rock Café. The song is from the band's sophomore cd Recession Girls.

The video for "When I Was Young" can be seen on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c-VnVEqS0Xg&list=UUJHCTzBPwzkIWPrF5O6zS5w&index=3&feature=plcp

Oy Vey is Bryce Aubrey and Kevin Corcoran, childhood friends since 1999. Corey Lederman is the most recent addition to the band. He joined them on guitar when they played at Tammany Hall as part of the CBGB Festival in July. Recession Girls explores relationships in the age of economic downturn. It was recorded at Kevin's then home studio in Chicago, and mastered at Sterling Sound in NYC by Steve Fallone. Well-known drummer Johnny Rabb laid down the drum tracks at Strobe Recording studio in Chicago.

Recession Girls received much critical praise: "With layer upon layer of music Oy Vey will capture your attention, seduce your ear drums and not let your body stop dancing until the final note is played. Recession Girls is a well-orchestrated album, where every sound and every note is perfectly calculated to present something fresh, fun and unique." --Spill Magazine.

"Recession Girls, from front to back, exhibits a hybrid of piano pop, teenage wastelands, and short bursts of club floor electronica, all gliding gingerly into place amidst trendsetters of the here and now..." --Consequence of Sound.

Bryce (guitars) and Kevin (keyboards) formed Oy Vey in the winter of 2010, and started immediately writing their first album, Botanical Curiosity. Oy Vey self-released Botanical Curiosity to radio stations in mid-April of 2011 and it quickly climbed to the CMJ Top 200 charts at 176. They were interviewed by Skope Magazine and chosen as an Artist2Watch.

Aiding and Abetting wrote: "Some bands have it, and some don't. Some know how to take a time-tested sound and create something new within it. And some band simply know how to write songs. Oy Vey is all three of those--and a fair bit more. A glorious whirl."

Aubrey and Corcoran are continually writing new songs as they are putting together ideas for a third record to be recorded next winter. Kevin recently moved to Williamsburg from Chicago a few months ago so that the band could focus more time and energy on playing live.

Join Oy Vey at Trash Bar on August 25th. The admission price of $8 includes an open bar from 7-8 pm, Oy Vey at 8pm, and four more bands starting at 9 pm. Trash Bar is located at 256 Grand Street, Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NY 11211. Telephone: 718 -599-1000. Recession Girls and Botanical Curiosity are available for purchase at ITunes, Amazon and CD Baby.
