Mesquite, TX (PressExposure) October 30, 2009 -- Paragon Industries has just announced the SC-1 jewelry kiln, which weighs 15 pounds and operates on a standard household outlet.
The digital SC-1 kiln fires PMC, Art Clay Silver, decals, china paint, and glass. With a 6" wide, 3-3/4" deep, and 3" high interior, it is designed as a traveling kiln for seminar teachers or for artists with limited work space. The kiln weighs 15 pounds.
The SC-1 has a digital temperature controller, which fires PMC and Art Clay Silver to their recommended times.
The ceramic fiber firing chamber is wrapped in a steel inner case. A layer of air separates the inner case from a slotted outer steel case. Electrical components are located in the base.
The digital temperature controller includes two modes: Single Speed and 8-segment Ramp-Hold. Single Speed mode fires to a single temperature at a single speed. Ramp-Hold mode can store four programs. Both firing modes can soak, or hold, the temperature. Control both heating and cooling in Ramp-Hold.
The SC-1 comes with a 28-page kiln instruction manual, a 16-page controller manual, and a Quick Start guide.
"The SC-1 is smaller than our SC-2 and SC-3 kilns," said Arnold Howard of Paragon Industries. "We are introducing the SC-1 because teachers want a smaller kiln. Also, some artists fire only a few PMC or Art Clay Silver pieces at a time, and they don't need the space of a larger kiln."
