Patient Lifts of New England, a Prism Medical Company, has Successfully Obtained Accreditation under the MMA Act

Vaughan, Canada (PressExposure) September 30, 2009 -- Prism Medical Ltd. (PM:TSX-VEN) is proud to announce that Patient Lifts of New England (PLNE), a Prism Medical Company operating across the northeastern USA, has successfully obtained accreditation under The Medicare Modernization Act (MMA). Designed to hold durable medical equipment providers to a high regulatory standard, any company wishing to participate in Medicare programs must obtain accreditation by an organization approved by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). PLNE obtained its accreditation through The Compliance Team, Inc., P.O. BOX 160, 905 Sheble Lane, Suite 102 Spring House PA 19477, (215) 654-9110.

Toni Esposito (BSN, ATP) of The Compliance Team Inc had this to say about the PLNE’s efforts. “The company has done a brilliant job applying the program within the organization.”

PNLE’s core business is installing, servicing and maintaining a wide variety of equipment in long term care, acute care facilities and private homes. According to Robin Hale, PNLE regional manager, CMS accreditation was important for the company. “Becoming an accredited organization has made us a more focused business, not only in servicing and meeting the needs of our client’s, employees and our vendors, but also in assisting us in becoming a quality organization within the durable medical equipment arena.” Robin also thanked the Compliance Team Inc for all the hard work. “They truly care about our patients. I am so proud of our staff and their commitment to this program and its ability to obtain a 99% percent score for compliance”.

Charley Wallace, President of Prism Medical USA, seconded Robin’s opinion and had this to add. “Not only is Medicare-based business important, but accreditation demonstrates the high level of equipment and service PNLE and Prism Medical offers their client base. Accreditation also sends important signals to private health organizations such as Blue Cross, that the company operates according to the highest standards. Medicare accreditation shows we’re a company you can trust, that you can do business with us.”
