Programme Announced to Boost Web Presence of Australian SMEs

Mumbai, India (PressExposure) August 20, 2009 -- The Federal Government in Australia has announced the initiation of a $10 million scheme - ‘Small Online’ programme - to help the small businesses enhance their online presence. The initiative was announced by Dr Craig Emerson, Minister for Small . With the launch of this initiative, small businesses in Australia will have the government’s support to boost their Web presence.

Under the programme, the Federal government will offer Internet training service providers an opportunity to apply for grants ranging from $50,000-500,000 in order to deliver training and mentoring services to small businesses. Financial support will be offered only to those service providers who agree to help SMEs become Internet-savvy.

The programme will be extended to applicants, including small business entrepreneurs, professionals and business organisations, industry associations, educational institutions and business enterprise centres. It will be offered till June 2011.

Small businesses in Australia can also seek assistance from the National Broadband Network, which will provide the sector with enormous opportunities to operate online. It will also help them to reduce their costs and improve their marketing reach.
