Ottawa, Canada Canada (PressExposure) November 07, 2007 -- RES Inc. announced today the launch of the beta version of a new comprehensive medical reference site, Reference.MD, aimed at health professionals and available for free without registration. With about a quarter million pages, Reference.MD organizes and cross-references all medical concepts, and introduces an interactive tree-based Medical Concept Navigator.
Reference.MD is particularly rich in information about substances having pharmacological actions, and about prescription drugs. It merges information derived from a number of medical databases, including the National Library of Medicineâs Medical Subject Headings, with drug information from the Federal Drug Administration, including reported suspected adverse drug reactions.
Early independent reviews are positive. âAs all medical professionals know, the amount of new information released daily is reaching staggering proportions,â says Lenore Howe, President and CEO of SeekWellness.com . âWe all love the Internet but how can we get a handle on this much information, especially if looking for cutting edge work being done in a field? Reference.MD is one answer. It organizes a large amount of information and allows searches from a variety of starting points. Any serious medical or biological literature search should begin here.â
âReference.MD is a great way to quickly get to the right medical information, and to explore related informationâ, says RES Vice-President Dr. Martin Laplante. âGiven the huge amount of medical literature, itâs difficult to zoom in on authoritative information. This puts it all at your fingertips.â
RES Inc. introduced its first reference web site in 2001 with the launch of the LookWAYup dictionary/thesaurus and search assistant. RES has released many other dictionaries and reference sites since then, for the web and for cell phones and wireless handhelds, with millions of users worldwide.
RES Inc. is a software firm located in Ottawa, Canada.
