New York, NY (PressExposure) August 16, 2011 -- New York real estate tycoon, Elie Hirschfeld, President of Hirschfeld Properties, LLC, has continued to fiercely conquer the New York sports scene by participating in New York City's 11th annual triathlon along with 3500 other athletes. At 61-years-old, he finished on Saturday in just under three hours. Elie Hirschfeld participated in the first NYC triathlon in 2000, making this his third time racing.
"As a native New Yorker and avid sportsman, swimming, running and biking in some of the most iconic places in the City, like the Hudson River and Central Park, was an incredible experience," said Hirschfeld. "Marathons and triathlons alone are exceptionally rewarding both physically and mentally, but when you add in the charitable aspect to give back to the community as well, it heightens the sense of satisfaction to a whole new level."
At the age of 35, Hirschfeld transformed from a casual jogger, occasional biker and "a terrible swimmer" to an impassioned extreme athlete, who over the past 27 years has garnered acclaim having completed over 75 triathlons and 10 marathons across the world. As another outlet for his sports enthusiasm, Hirschfeld launched http://www.hirschfeldsport.com, a website intended to foster athletic development that currently features triathlon training advice ranging from nutrition to endurance building.
"Over my 27 years as a triathlete I have watched it drastically increase in popularity," said Hirschfeld. "Although the sport demands a lot of effort and many people feel satisfied completing the event just once or twice, I find personal satisfaction in training and racing, and will continue to do so as long as I can."
