Madsen has a MBA from the University of Phoenix, a degree in construction electricity from Minneapolis Community and Technical College and a BA in Landscape Architecture from Iowa State University. He also has 20 years of service in the Minnesota Army National Guard, achieving the rank of Major through several deployments throughout his career. Most recently, Madsen developed the role of electrical commissioning with Karges-Faulconbridge, Inc. Engineers.
