Rugged Low Frequency RFID Reader/Writer with a Built-in Antenna

Toronto, Canada (PressExposure) November 10, 2009 -- GAO RFID Asset Tracking ( has announced the release of its 16 bit character based RFID reader/writer [] available for both high frequency [] and low frequency. This rugged and durable read/write unit is intended for mobile data collection in transportation, warehousing, meter reading and mobile services. The portable RFID reader/writer features a high resolution backlit LCD screen, twenty-seven keys and real time clock for time stamping.

The RFID reader/writer, model 241001, is available for operation at frequencies of 125kHz or 134.2kHz. It offers a read range of 80mm to100mm at 125kHz and 40mm at 134.2kHz. It is compatible with ISO 11784/85 standard tags and provides baud rates ranging from 2400bps to 19200bps.The portable RFID reader/writer has a memory capacity of up to 4.5MB, which allows for much data collection without the need to download its data. Encapsulated within an ABS case, it performs well even in harsh environments. Durability testing demonstrated that the reader continued to work effectively even after being dropped from a height of four feet to a concrete floor. This portable reader/writer also provides an RS232 interface.
