Coral Springs, FL (PressExposure) September 08, 2009 -- Today Runaware, the global leader in software marketing, announced that the company is positioning itself to become a player in the Software as a Service (SaaS) market using its recently-announced updated TestDrive® platform. After years of planning and development, and with the launch of the company's updated online demo service, Runaware is planning for future growth by enabling other software companies to meet their customers' need for cloud computing.
The new TestDrive platform has been designed from the ground up to include the features needed to become a Platform as a Service (PaaS) offering. Gartner estimated that the SaaS marketing represented $6.9 Billion in revenue in 2006 and projected that the industry would grow by more than 21% by 2011. Consumers are increasingly moving to hosted software and many companies are struggling to find the resources to devote to continuing product development while dedicating resources to converting to a SaaS model.
"It has always been my goal to make sure Runaware is on the forefront of software hosting technology. While we haven't positioned ourselves this way in the past, once our new system is launched I truly believe that TestDrive fits the PaaS model. We will be addressing the needs of clients who really want to get their software up in the cloud, but may not have the development funds or resources to convert traditional installed software to one that is considered SaaS. Runaware can help with that and we will continue to develop our skills in this area. TestDrive has always been a PaaS-capable system, we just haven't taken it out of the demo space," stated Tim Keyes, Runaware CEO.
Keys also added, "With our experience over the last 10 years hosting software in the online demo space, Runaware has the experience and knowledge to become a PaaS and help software companies put products online for full use without having to develop their software again."
The TestDrive PaaS offering is capable of hosting all types of software and delivering it over the internet, worldwide, without the need for download or installation of the software. The system delivers full functionality of the software through a web browser while all of the processing power is handled by Runaware's servers located in data centers on two continents.
With the PaaS offering, Runaware can enable, uploading, downloading, printing and saving; which are currently disabled for all demo customers. Any clients wishing to utilize the TestDrive PaaS offering can work with Runaware to enable hosting end user data in the cloud or locally with any number of currently available cloud storage systems or one custom engineered, based on the customer's security needs. Runaware will also make use of a proprietary access system that controls access to the software on the PaaS system, ensuring that end users only have access to authorized software and data and giving transparency to software publishers regarding the usage of their software.
Runaware is working with several clients to evaluate their SaaS needs on an individual basis and will announce more details of the service throughout the year.
