Samsung Makes the Call to Action

Australia, Australia (PressExposure) March 30, 2009 -- Samsung Electronics, currently Australia’s number two mobile phone brand, is stepping up its drive to be the number one brand in the market by 2010 with the arrival of two senior executives Tyler McGee and Maxime Bonpain.

Tyler McGee joins this month as Vice President of Telecommunications at Samsung Electronics Australia, a new role responsible for building on the success and growth seen in 2008 to become the leading mobile phone brand in Australia within the next two years. Formerly the President of Nokia Japan and Vice President North East Asia, Tyler was responsible for the strategic management and operational management within Japan and Korea. As VP of sales he was also responsible for Nokia's sales across a number of countries.

"Tyler’s start has been widely anticipated across Samsung and as a key strategy to further build our market share and brand strength in the mobile space. We are serious about our goal of being the most popular Australian mobile phone provider with consumers, carriers and retailers alike and Tyler will play a key part in achieving this goal” said Mr Choi, Managing Director, Samsung Australia.

Tyler McGee, Vice President of Telecommunications, Samsung Electronics Australia said, “I’m eager to start working with the Samsung team and our partners to build on the achievements of 2008. This foundation of success along with our solid 2009 product roadmap and a more strategic approach to our business will drive us forward and achieve our goal to be the number one mobile phone brand in Australia.”

Supporting this restructured team is Maxime Bonpain who joins the mobile team from Samsung UK in a new role as Head of Marketing, Telecommunications, Samsung Electronics Australia. Previously Maxime was responsible for brand management in London, focusing on PR and communications and working on strategic alliances, as well as events and sponsorship. Maxime will use his vast experience with Samsung to aggressively support the sales efforts through innovative marketing and communications strategies.

Across Australia in 2008, Samsung sold one handset every 16 seconds cementing its position as the number two mobile brand. By reinforcing the existing team’s prowess, Samsung becomes a real contender for the number one spot in the market.
