Liverpool, (PressExposure) June 25, 2008 -- FabulaTech, a leader in the market for device driver development, application development and systems internals programming for Microsoft Windows, Linux and Embedded operating systems today announced the release of Serial Port Redirector 1.3.3 Serial Port Redirector allows now to assign new names for com ports. Now one can map any serial ports to any other port name. In other words, it allows to create aliases for com ports.
âFor example you install additional com port expansion card to computer as COM7 serial port but your favorite software can work with COM1...COM4 ports onlyâ says Alan Rourke, one of the Serial Port Redirector developers. âTo resolve this problem you can use Serial Port Redirector to map new COM7 port either to COM1 or to COM2...COM4. Now your software can open COM1 port (or COM2...COM4) but actually work with new COM7 port. Configuration via command line interface is available as wellâ.
According to Shawn Preston, FabulaTech chief software architect, one can map serial ports directly from oneâs own application using command-line and map com ports directly from the own application using ActiveX or Dynamic Link Library (OEM license).
Serial Port Redirector general features include:
-com port mapping; -com port swapping; -unlimited number of com ports can be mapped; -works as system service.
