Nashville, TN (PressExposure) May 15, 2009 -- Each meeting of the National Speakers Association Tennessee (NSAT) is centered around its eight core speaking competencies: platform skills, communication techniques, business management, professional relations, topic development, sales and marketing, authorship/product development skills, and professional awareness. A top-notch professional speaker presents a quality program at all NSAT meetings, which are held from 9 a.m. to 12 noon on the second Saturday of each month.
At the May chapter meeting, Dan Poynter gave his most popular presentation âTurning Speeches into Books.â He taught a unique approach to publication that combines the best of traditional and self-publishing ideas to accelerate successful book writing. He touched on subjects such as assessing the market, narrowing the scope, and determining the best size, binding, color of paper, and type of packaging to use before actually writing the book.
âWriterâs block is actually a lack of a plan,â says Poynter. His 33-page handout (available as a slide presentation on his Web site) included worksheets and organizational steps that walk the author through the writing process.
Following the presentation, a networking session allowed members to chat with one another and exchange business cards.
