Atlanta, GA (PressExposure) December 18, 2012 -- International rapper, television and movie star, T.I., recently returned to his Bankhead neighborhood to announce the launch of his global humanitarian campaign, GIVE Like a King--to raise awareness and encourage others to give back and get involved in worthy causes. T.I. shared that he plans to engage his fans, and work especially hard to inspire younger demographics to get serious about community involvement, humanitarian efforts and giving back.
He made an essential stop at the Veterans Empowerment Organization (VEO)before hitting the road to promote his highly anticipated eighth studio album, Troubled Man: Heavy is the Head.
T.I. sat down for an exclusive interview with 11 Alive's, Brenda Wood before attending the private press conference, which included an audience filled with media, veterans and veterans support service organizations. With his wife by his side, T.I. was greeted and honored by a remarkable community of Atlantan's, including two of the original Tuskegee Airmen, Norris Connally and Ed Johnson, Stellar and Grammy nominated gospel artist, Canton Jones, former homeless veteran, Curtis Butler III, Veteran and representative of Bank of America's MSAG division, Marsha Jens, Executive Director of VEO, Frantz Fortune and other supporters from all across the City of Atlanta.
T.I. announced to the audience that he would return to VEO in the new year to present a homeless veteran keys to the newest VEO housing unit, which will include some special touches from the Harris family, under his Keys from the KING program which will roll out in 2013.
T.I. shared an emotional account of what it meant to kick off his campaign in his childhood neighborhood...along the streets that he once too struggled to find his way. He ended his remarks in a heartfelt salute and tribute to veterans all around the world. T.I. shares, "To live like a king, you must be willing to give like a king. With that being said, it gives me great honor and privilege to give to those who deserve it the most...our veterans."
GIVE Like a King is a multi-pronged campaign that will roll out various public service initiatives and partnerships, including Keys from the King---where T.I. will present keys to homes, cars and many other things to deserving individuals, fans and supporters around world.
