Team Trivia Tuesdays Always a Hit at Scottsdale's British Open Pub

Scottsdale, AZ (PressExposure) July 19, 2011 -- Are you the know-it-all who can answer all the questions on Jeopardy? Do your friends and family refuse to play "Trivial Pursuit" with you? Then British Open Pub, Scottsdale's own English pub, has a game made just for you.

The British Open Pub is celebrating the summer with Team Trivia Tuesdays. The live-hosted trivia game that has been the craze of local pubs since it was first introduced in 1999.

"We love hosting the game," said Gregg Troilo, owner of British Open Pub, about Team Trivia. "People get really into it. It gets really competitive and is a lot of fun for everyone, even for those of us who are on the sidelines watching the excitement."

The game, which began in a Florida bar, pits contestants against one another.

"We allow teams and individuals to play against each other," Troilo said, "so if trivia isn't your strong suit, you can bring along your friends to help. And if you know it's your thing, you can compete on your own and keep the prize for numero uno."

It was recently featured in the movie Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore, where contestants yelled out the answers before the questions were complete.

"Ours is done a little differently," Troilo said. "It's played like the challenge round on Jeopardy."

The emcee reads the question, plays a song and waits for the answers sheets to be brought to her. For each first-round question players bet 1, 3 or 5 points. In the second round, the point values are 2, 4 or 6. The bonus question can worth 0 to 15 points. The prizes are given to the first three places in the sums of $30, $20, $10, respectively.

"People who know it, love it," Troilo said, "and it can get a little crazy, and we are always open to new people and teams joining in the fray."

Scottsdale's British Open Pub, or the "Bop" as regulars call it, has something for everyone.
