Thanksgiving Grand Canyon Helicopter And Airplane Tour Deals

Las Vegas, NV (PressExposure) November 07, 2015 -- Grand Canyon Tours announced today its best Thanksgiving discounts on select Canyon helicopter and airplane tours originating from Las Vegas, NV, and South Rim, AZ.

Air tours will run on a non-holiday schedule during the week and weekend of Thanksgiving, with flights starting at 7 a.m. and concluding at 4 p.m. with the ever-popular sunset rides.

From Las Vegas, the helicopter package on sale is the all-air tour. It goes over Lake Mead, Hoover Dam and the Colorado River before entering Grand Canyon airspace. It includes hotel transportation and all taxes and fees.

The airplane tour on sale is also the all-air package. It flies the same flight path as the helicopter, except at higher altitude and with more passengers (airplanes hold up to 19 people while helicopters carry 6).

From South Rim, the 30-minute all-air chopper ride is being discounted for the occasion. It goes from the South Rim to the North Rim and back via the Dragoon Corridor, which is the widest and deepest section of the National Park.

The South Rim airplane ride on sale is the 50-minute flight that coves the South Rim and North Rim as well as everything up to the Park's eastern Border. Once a completed, a traveler will have experienced up to 75 percent of the Park.

Types of Tours

There are two kinds of tours: Basic and deluxe. The promotional flights in this release are basic tours, and what distinguishes the basic from the deluxe are the perks. Basic tours come with free transport by mini van while deluxe tours use a limousine.

Basic tours out of Vegas generally leave from Boulder City, NV, or Henderson, NV, and require a 35-minute shuttle ride. Deluxe tours, by contrast, take off from heli-pads on the Las Vegas Strip, thus cutting down on transfer time. Further, these tours come with and extended tour over The Strip.

The biggest difference, however, is the kind of helicopter used. Basic tours use the standard AStar or Bell Ranger while the deluxe uses the EcoStar 130, the most superior helicopter flying Canyon tours these days.

The EcoStar is 25% larger than a basic helicopter and is equipped with stadium-style seats and a 180-degree wraparound windshield. In addition, these choppers are more soundproof than basic helicopters and are aerodynamically designed to deliver a much smoother ride.

Landing Tours.

The only helicopters that land at the bottom of the Canyon start from Las Vegas. This is because the West Rim, which is 120 miles from Vegas, permits flights that go below the rim and land. Similar flights are banned at the South Rim by the National Park Service (NPS).

This is why many travelers prefer to take a landing tour from Vegas, of which the most popular is the one that lands at the bottom for a Champagne picnic. This tour can also be upgraded to include a Colorado River boat ride and tickets to the Grand Canyon Skywalk.

Tour deals mentioned in this release are only available online and must be purchased on the website in order to qualify for the discount. Thanksgiving travelers are urged to purchase flights in advance. Rule of thumb is about a week prior to flight time. Avoid booking within 24 hours or the day of the flight as prices increase a lot.
