The-Green-Heart's First Annual Call for Writers and Poets

Los Angeles, CA (PressExposure) April 13, 2012 -- Petra Eiko's the-green-heart is asking writers and poets, professional and non professionals:

What is in your heart? - The world is listening.

This writers contest will be part of Eiko's interactive public art installation that has been displayed successfully in several locations throughout California.

The purpose of this art project is to unite people with one question providing a sense of connectedness and community. People of all walks of life are invited to pen their thoughts and ideas on a piece of paper and post it on Eiko's green heart wall for viewers to see. Thousands have participated and it became a wonderful community driven project.

The-green-heart project, "What is in your heart? - The world is listening," was launched after Eiko took a trip to Dubai where a lady asked her about the "Western" definition of love. Both women discussed in length the importance of learning from and understanding other people to have a better chance toward peace. Writer/artist Eiko, who uses poetry to increase awareness and to inspire more tolerance, recognized that love begins in the heart and cannot be defined without understanding the heart itself. Back in the United States, she transformed the single question "What is in your heart?" into an interactive art installation that shows what truly moves us and how we all share common dreams and challenges.

This international writing contest is the newest venue of the-green-heart. It is an open call for writers and poets age 18 and over to share what is in their hearts. The grand prize is $1000 (U.S.) and an admission ticket for the annual Red Hen Press luncheon. The deadline to enter is July 31, 2012. Eligible submissions will become part of a larger public art installation of the-green-heart.

Petra Eiko: "I am very excited about this new venue of the-green-heart and would especially like to thank Dr. Kate Gale and Red Hen Press for their help and friendly support of this project."
