Fresno, CA (PressExposure) May 16, 2013 -- Grange Network presents Lauren Bissey Crawford, Soil Moisture Product Manager for Decagon Devices, who will be discussing the future of soil moisture measurement in this free webinar on May 24th, 2013 at 10am. There is no fee to attend the webinar, and anyone who is interested is encouraged to attend.
The ability to continuously monitor soil moisture using electronics was initially met with skepticism, and was even initially called witchcraft by some skeptical scientists. We as irrigators have gone from using the "feel" and color of a shovelful of soil to determine soil moisture to using large-scale wireless networks that we can use to check soil moisture levels from our smart phones. This virtual seminar will review the history of soil moisture measurements ranging from:
- The evolution of soil moisture sensing devices from 1960-current
- How consumer devices are making soil moisture data more accurate and accessible while lowering costs
- Existing needs and how they may be addressed in the future
