The Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation is launching the "SHADE ACROSS AMERICA" Nationwide On-Line

Minden, NV (PressExposure) September 17, 2009 -- /1888PressRelease/ The goal of this new program is to help schools, organizations and community groups raise the necessary funding for shade structures. Exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays appears to be the most important environmental factor in developing skin cancer. This makes skin cancer a largely preventable disease when sun protective practices and behaviors are consistently applied and utilized.

This current economy has left many cities, organizations, foundations and business partners, those who normally support funding for shade structures, without the available resources to contribute,” states William Barth, President, Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation. “We feel these sluggish economic conditions may last for many years, which is why we are passionate about our campaign,”states Barth.

The Skin Cancer Awareness Foundation is encouraging schools, organizations and community groups to become a “Sun Smart Community Partner” by utilizing the Foundation’s year-round, SHADE ACROSS AMERICA Nationwide On-Line AUCTION to fund shade structures in their community.

“The Shade Across America Nationwide On-line Auction Program” will reduce stress on volunteers, and increase donor participation and revenue by using this incredible system,” states Barth. Auction items will receive national exposure through our website, press releases, Shade Across America Auction newsletter and in our own Sun Smart Connection On-Line Magazine. Participating schools, organizations and community groups will also be listed on our Foundation website directory as a “Sun Smart Community Partner,” and will include a link back to their own organization’s website.

“Turn your unused or unwanted items into cash for a brand new shade structure and make a difference in your community,” concludes Barth.

“Parents, teachers, businesses and communities need to work together to promote sun safety and protect our kids,” states Barth. “It is our responsibility to protect children from danger, and so it is my objective to have shade structures over every playground and sports park in America. With this program, and the help of USA SHADE & Fabric Structures, we will be able to protect children by covering them during the most important times of their lives—childhood.”
