Tourism Awards Hat Trick For Cottages At Monreale

Melbourne, Australia (PressExposure) November 17, 2009 -- Dandenong Ranges business— Cottages at Monreale has completed a hat trick, taking out the Hosted Accommodation Award for the third consecutive year at the Melbourne Airport 2009 Victorian Tourism Awards.

One hundred businesses and individuals from across the State vied for top honours at the prestigious awards which were held at Crown Palladium on the 16th of November.

The annual awards recognise leading businesses and individuals for their outstanding contribution to the Victorian tourism industry, which employs 185,000 people and contributes $15.8 billion to the economy each year.

Cheryl Johnston, owner of Monreale said that she was extremely proud to have won this year because it had been such a difficult period for the tourism industry. Cheryl said that the bush fire impact to many tourism communities including the Dandenong Ranges was still ongoing today, with the worry of the new summer period just around the corner.

Cheryl praised her loyal staff for their contribution to the excellence and service that is now a hall mark of the Monreale experience. Cheryl said that this year all cottages had been re-decorated in a stylish modern country theme with additional features such as the new photo gallery.

As a Victorian Tourism Award winner, Cottages at Monreale will go on to represent Victoria at the 2009 Qantas Australian Tourism Awards to be held in Hobart, Tasmania on the 26th of February 2010.

Minister for Tourism and Major Events, Tim Holding congratulated the team from Cottages at Monreale on their win. "The awards highlight the success of outstanding individuals and organisations in the Victorian tourism industry."

"Cottages at Monreale was judged the best in their field and I applaud them for going the extra mile to deliver memorable visitor experiences," Mr Holding said.
