Moncure, NC (PressExposure) August 12, 2008 -- Uniboard announces today the purchase of ATC Panelâs Moncure, North Carolina facility which will now operate as Uniboard USA LLC, Moncure Plant. The particleboard and thermofused melamine (TFM) plant, which employs close to 160 people and produces annually over 156 million square feet (276,000 m³) of particleboard and value added melamine will serve as the base to strengthen current customer relationships and further expand Uniboardâs market position in the Southern and Midwestern United States.
With significant plans for expansion, Uniboard will be investing over $120 million in the upcoming year to install on the Moncure site a state-of-the-art medium density and high density fiberboard (MDF/HDF) line.
âThis is a significant step in Uniboardâs strategic plan to strengthen our leadership in engineered wood panels in Eastern North America and become the supplier of choice with our customers. Our new, optimally-located service point is not only capable of offering raw particleboard but more importantly we will be able to supply furniture makers, kitchen cabinet, store fixture and distribution channels with Uniboardâs widely recognized thermofused melamine product offering. With the installation of our MDF/HDF line, we will be in a favorable position to supply our sister Company Pergo, located in Raleigh, and our customers located in the Midwest and Southern US. The acquisition of the Moncure facility is a reflection of Uniboardâs long term commitment to our customers, especially on the East Coast and solidifies our offering in laminate flooring through Pergoâ commented James Hogg, President and CEO of Uniboard.
