(www.GAOResearch.com) is offering its V.92 Modem Software which employs pulse code modulation (PCM) in the upstream direction and provides a data rate of up to 48 kbps, which proves most useful in applications that involve large data transfers from user to ISP such as VoIP.
This V.92 modem software provides a downstream rate of up to 56 kbps and a quicker modem connection time which is achieved through faster handshaking. The connection time of V.92 modem software is up to 50% quicker than V.90 for buffered connections. The V.92 Server Modem is a digital modem with a maximum transmission bit rate of 56 kbps and reception bit rate of 48 kbps. The V.92 Client Modem is an analog modem with a maximum bit rate of 56 kbps receive, 48 kbps transmit. When online, users have the ability to put the 'Modem on Hold' (MOH) and can receive a phone call without having to disconnect from their Internet session. The MOH does have a time limit of between 0 to 16 minutes which is set entirely at the discretion of the ISP. The software supports DSPs such as TI C5000 & C6000 series, ARM processors and ADI DSPs and OS such as Windows, VxWorks, and Linux.
This V.92 modem software belongs to GAO's family of Soft Modems.
