VA Today Magazine gives Virtual Assistants a Voice

Modesto, CA (PressExposure) September 25, 2009 -- The North American Virtual Assistant Association, an organization for the advancement and certification of Virtual Assistants, announces the release of VA Today Magazine, the first print publication dedicated to the Virtual Assistant profession.

Virtual Assistants, also called a VA, Virtual Office Assistant or Virtual Business Assistant, are professionals who specialize in providing administrative, technical or creative office support services remotely. As independent contractors, they utilize advanced skills, progressive modes of communication and technological innovation to support their clients. Though the VA industry is not new, the fragile economy has created a substantial surge in the supply and demand of quality Virtual Assistants. Lean personnel budgets have made outsourcing a necessity for businesses of all sizes; while soaring unemployment rates have caused previously conventional administrative assistants, paralegals, IT professionals and other office workers to embrace the virtual trend.

Dee Middlebrooks-Bernal, editor in chief of VA Today Magazine, believes the field of Virtual Assisting has developed beyond a small-business novelty into a recognized industry that is anxious for a publication that speaks directly to them. “Virtual Assistants have unique needs and interests that are not typically addressed in business magazines,” says Ms. Middlebrooks-Bernal, “With each edition of VA Today we will focus on the critical issues that Virtual Assistants confront each day.” VA Today Magazine also offers a Contributing Writer Program whereby subscribers can contribute articles to a future issue. Ms. Middlebrooks-Bernal describes it as giving subscribing Virtual Assistants “boundless opportunity to build their brands and increase their marketability.”

VA Today is available as a traditional print publication as well as a “green” digital magazine. A new issue is published each quarter.
