Seattle, WA (PressExposure) April 11, 2012 -- Mail forwarding is not what it used to be. In fact, it's advanced to the point where it's not even what you might think of when you think of a mail forwarding service. That's why the Virtual Mail Center was formed - to give people up-to-date information on mail forwarding options.
Ten years ago, mail forwarding was just as the name stated. If you moved, got sick or went on an extended vacation, you could have your mail forwarded to wherever you were at the time. That was all find and good until someone thought of something better!
The concept was simple really. As explained at the Virtual Mail Center, you have your mail forwarded to a Mail Forwarding Company. They then scan your mail and put it online so you can see what has come into your mailbox. This makes it somewhat similar to email in that you view it all online - but instead of viewing what someone emailed to you, you first look at a scanned image of the envelope that came in the postal mail, and then, if you choose, you can have the contents scanned.
Eva, who is the owner of the Virtual Mail Center, does not actually supply the service. Her site was developed because there are currently a few different companies offering a mail forwarding service. Their prices vary a lot - depending on what services you want, and what you want your virtual mailing address to be.
It can get a little confusing going back and forth comparing all the services that are covered in with a "basic" plan versus what you will have to pay more for. That's why Eva decided to develop a site where all of the information you need to know is compared on a grid so you can immediately see what you are getting for the price.
There are currently two Companies spotlighted on the grid. These are the two that are most highly recommended and have advanced scanning technologies that make reading your mail online just as easy as email. And, while there are other companies out there that offer a mail forwarding service, many of them just do it old style and forward your postal mail to you. This adds a lot of time to mail delivery - much more than if you had professionals handling it all for you.
If you're looking for a mail forwarding service - compare your options the easy way by using the Virtual Mail Center's new "At a Glance" Grid: http://virtualmailcenter.com/mail-forwarding-service/
