Daytona Beach, FL (PressExposure) July 05, 2008 -- WCEU TV is taping a 13 week series of a new style of exercise show based on the concept of Functional Fitness, fitness with a purpose - " a type of workout that concentrates specifically on training the body to cope with real life. The revolutionary techniques takes fitness to a whole new level by combining multiple muscle groups and joint movements to work together rather than isolating them to function seperately.
The host, Suzanne Andrews, a certified Occupational Therapy Practitioner, will focus on stretching, strengthening and balance exercises to help prevent injury, increase lifespan, improve coordination, promote cardiovascular health and decrease diabetes risk.
Special techniques include using every day household items in lieu of costly exercise equipment. A less intense version will also be demonstrated for those who are just beginning an exercise program.
The station is focusing on Functional Fitness as an ongoing series that is appropriate for baby boomers, 40+ and seniors. Sample show topics appealing to this demographic range include, decreasing back pain, neck health, weight control, improving balance, osteoporosis, and diabete complication prevention. The show, originally airing in Central Florida to an area of 1.6 million households will be targeted to a national audience and promoted by PBS 15 to a national distributor.
