Chicago, IL (PressExposure) February 07, 2009 -- Arthur Ebeling, founder of Eastern Isles Teas and Tonics, has accomplished something truly extraordinary. He began his journey in the fall of 2006 with a dream and an indomitable will- and did I mention, no money. The company now sells loose leaf organic teas (www.EasternIsles.com) and is in the planning stages of multiple new product lines, including a line of bottled (known as âready to drinkâ or r-t-d) teas for children.
Ebelingâs efforts have landed him features through CNN, NBC, AOL News, Entrepreneur Magazine, and Success Magazine. Recently, Ebeling was selected as a finalist in the Global Student Entrepreneur Awards in Chicago, IL, as one of only 28 students internationally and one of 16 in the U.S. It had been a nearly year-long and certainly grueling process as 78 semi-finalists had earlier been selected out of thousands of student nominees worldwide; gradually the field had diminished even more through several rounds of competition. The field was competitive as Ebeling surpassed students from Harvard University, MIT, Yale, Princeton, the University of Pennsylvania, Duke University, Stanford University, and Babson College among other top schools.
In Chicago, Ebeling gave a 30 minute presentation to a panel of 25 judges as did the other 27 global finalists. Of that 28, 6 were selected to present yet again to a celebrity panel of 25 successful entrepreneurs which included Robert Kiyosaki, best-selling author of Rich Dad, Poor Dad, Bill Farley, former chairman of Fruit of the Loom, USA Todayâs Jon Swartz and Peter Thomas, founder of Century 21 Canada Ltd.
Ebeling said of the experience, âThe entire field demonstrated remarkable talent and it was humbling to be among those selected in the final 6 globally. While we may have been outperformed in revenue by some of the competing companies, we were able to exhibit an effective business model, healthy growth metrics, and most importantly scalability. Eastern Isles has the potential to one day garner a notable market share in the industry. I have engineered the company from the beginning with that vision as a guiding impetus.â
The contest will no doubt provide considerable opportunity for Eastern Isles. Ebeling will be featured with the five other top finalists in Success Magazine as well as Young Money Magazine among other publications. As Eastern Islesâ brand awareness continues to burgeon and continues to be highlighted by the national media, it may very well prove an irresistible interest for both regional and national distributors.
âI was able to earn the confidence of some of the worldâs best business minds,â said Ebeling. âIt is an incredible testament to the promise of my vision for Eastern Isles. Though I have always believed in it unwaveringly, it was certainly encouraging to have such a profoundly affirming experience. It was nothing short of transformational- I truly feel my life trajectory is forever changed.â
Ebeling plans to heavily pursue distribution in the coming weeks, setting up meetings with carriers like Wal-Mart, Giant Foods (owner of regional chain, Martins), Whole Foods, and Wegmanâs. Eastern Isles product is currently already under review at many of these carriers. However, with the added clout of his extraordinary performance, Ebeling is confident a deal is imminent. He also went on to note that he was selected to speak at this years World Tea Expo in Las Vegas this May. This, the preeminent trade show in the industry, will give Ebeling access to an audience of major national distributors and carriers. Companies such as Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola, and McDonalds will be among the many companies present.
âThe World Tea Expo is a critical platform for our product,â says Ebeling. As a keynote speaker, I will have the opportunity to elevate Eastern Islesâ profile in the industry and hopefully procure further distribution arrangements.â
Ebeling has since launched a new venture, Kami Media Technologies, Inc. Kami develops games and applications for mobile platforms including the iPhone 3G and Android. The website can be accessed at, http://www.KamiMedia.com.
